Datahub SDK Documentation
Getting Started
If you are a SECS/GEM developer, choose one of the links in the
leftmost frame near the top to view the reference documentation for
your
chosen programming language. There are different choices for Host
or Equipment libraries. We suggest you use the reference
pages combined with hands-on exploration of the example application and
library source code for your selected language to get
started. Qualified prospective customers can obtain
download access
to the SDK software through the Evaluation Program - contact us using the website
to learn more. You can exercise, test, and demonstrate your
Equipment or Host application using a Host or Equipment application
counterpart. The configurable Tcl/Tk SECS applications are installed
with the SDK and available as Windows Start Menu Program Items, so this
is your simplest and most direct means of exercising your SECS
interface application.
If you are a distributed application developer, a suggested starting
point is getting familiar with the Datahub used as a message system
server, and as a shared data and subscription server. Navigate to
the Datahub Reference document
by choosing Applications in
the leftmost frame and Datahub
in the middle frame. The Datahub is a Tcl/Tk application
shell extended with new commands for data management and for
inter-process communication. The underlying Tcl commands, SQL, and mbx, are available for use in any Tcl/Tk application. The DMH
message system software bridges a wide variety of hardware platforms
and programming languages such as Java and .NET. Use
the links in the leftmost frame under DMH
Clients for the reference pages.
Tcl/Tk? What's
that? Tcl is an open-source programming language that was
designed for software integration projects. It is powerful and
productive. To learn more about Tcl and the windowing
toolkit Tk, choose the Internet
link in the leftmost frame under Tcl/Tk
Reference and spend some quality time browsing the links that
appear in the middle frame. The SDK documentation contains
complete reference information for Tcl/Tk programming.
